In some scenarios, if a student VM is corrupted, Reset VM to Snapshot operation may not fix the corrupted VM as the snapshot itself can be corrupted. Instructors can use the new Rebuild VM command to try rebuilding a specific VM from scratch which deletes the corrupted VM and redeploy the same VM from scratch. This process can take some time (3-15 minutes).
Note that any work done, modifications made or files copied to the VM will be lost when the Rebuild VM command is executed!
To run the Rebuild VM command, you can follow the steps below:
- Before running this command, please try following the tech note Revert VM's to snapshot.
- Browse to the student reservation
- Hover your mouse to the specific VM that needs to be rebuilt and run the command tool (the "run" arrow)
- Click the play button next to the Rebuild VM Command as shown below.

4. Once the command is successful you can verify the output window as below.
Note: If for some reason, you don't get a success message after 15 minutes or still having an issue with the VM after the Rebuild VM is finished executing, please contact the Juniper Lab support team so that they can try redeploying the VM again or try to give this student a new kit.
