In the ES-Lab CloudShell environment, both students and instructors will be assigned a unique username with a standard password to access their environment prior to each event.
NOTE:
- In an ILT event with more than 8 students, each username can be shared as needed. For instance, two students can share a single username to access and interact with their devices.
- In an ILO class with more than 8 students and device sharing is not ideal, typically two racks of gear (and therefore two reservations) will be assigned. Unique usernames will be generated for each reservation allowing each student a unique login and access to their own gear.
For security purposes, the usernames will be automatically created at the time of reservation start and removed at the time of reservation end. All username management and sign-on authentication is handled by an ES-Lab managed Active Directory server (NOT the Juniper Corporate SSO servers).
The Instructor User
- There will be a single instructor login per event which will typically follow the "instructor-<eventID>-0" format and use a standard password.
- If there is more than one reservation for a particular event (i.e. a prescriptive training event), the instructor will still receive only one username which will grant access to the "main" reservation(s) as well as each of the individual student reservations.
- The instructor login should not be shared with students as it typically allows access to additional lab infrastructure and environment commands.
The Student Users
- There will be 8 student logins per event which will typically follow the "student-<event-ID>-<1-8>" format and use a standard password.
- If there is more than one reservation for a particular event (i.e. a prescriptive training event), the students will still only receive one username which will grant them access to their particular reservation(s) only (they won't see other student or instructor reservations).
Next step is to login to the reservations page. More on that here!
