Common VNC Issues

Many of the student VMs are accessible via an HMTL5 VNC viewer through the resource's connection tool. VNC is quite flexible and allows users to easily interact easily with the device (including changing the device's display resolution). However it can have certain issues:

  • When a user logs himself off of the system they are accessing via VNC, the device will not be reachable again through VNC. The only solution is to reboot the VM to refresh the VNC service and restore connections. 
  • Reboots can be done by logging in to the device via Virtual Console (if available) or by using the device's command tool (Power Off, Power On):
